The stream of controversies surrounding the Abbys this year has taken a serious toll of the Indian advertising industry's credibility. It all began with the JWT scam ads for Ford Figo. Post the Goafest, Leo Burnett withdrew its winning entries for the Tata Salt Lite radio spots. And last evening the Abby Awards Governing Council withdrew the Abbys won by BBDO for its work on DHL.
To put an end to the situation getting out of hand, in a late evening mail to Editors of some media portals, Shashi Sinha, President of The Ad Club and head of the AGC, said: “After tomorrow evening (Friday evening) we will not take any more complaints for the Creative Abbys. Enough is enough and we must move on.”
