The Mumbai Marathon is part of "The Greatest Race on Earth” franchise. A large number of brands fight for visibility and dominance at this event which enjoys a huge amount of mainstream media support prior to its build-up. In its 10th year, the event saw 40,000+ participants and a television viewership of more than 2 million.

Amidst the prevailing media and communication clutter in the OOH space at the Mumbai Marathon, DDB MudraMax OOH executed a clutter breaking innovation for Star Plus which, just like its on-air content, wanted to create a differentiating branding element at the Mumbai Marathon which would out-shout the huge brand clutter present at the venue.

Spencer Noronha, VP, DDB MudraMax OOH, said, “The brief was to create impact at one of the most important events of 2013 – the Mumbai Marathon. We selected the most strategic locations on the marathon route and installed two mammoth large than life 3D Star Plus logo units dominating the sea face which created a very picturesque photo op on the day of the event.”

The logo installations stood out against the clear blue skies and the sea and it was a spectacle watching the athletes running past these gigantic structures dominating the marathon route and the crowd cheering in the background to re-live the true spirit of Mumbai.

Anirudha Pawar, DGM, DDB MudraMax OOH, said, "The biggest challenge was to install two huge 26 ft tall logo units within a span of few hours in the night just before the start of the event. It took detailed and meticulous planning on our part to actually ensure the execution is completed as per schedule. This was a branding element which was impossible to miss on the marathon route and two installations amplified the impact."
