In its quest to address the issue of decreasing voter percentage, Zee News, a responsible fourth estate of democracy, rolled out “Aapka Vote Aapki Taqat” campaign supported by Election Commission of India.

“Aapka Vote Aapki Taqat” campaign is launched to show the importance of voting & to sensitize voters to ensure a responsive and accountable government is in place.

Keeping in view the ensuing Gujarat Assembly Election, which is scheduled for December 13th & 17th, a series of informative and engaging on-ground activities under the banner “Aapka Vote Aapki Taqat” are planned in the state from 15th November, 2012. Due to obvious reasons, Gujarat elections with an electorate of over 4 crore, would be keenly watched by all. As a part of this campaign, Ground Events will be conducted in colleges and universities of Surat, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar to educate the youth about their rights and responsibilities. This includes signature campaign, skits, rallies and street plays across the state.

Zee News has been taking this initiative to various states where Election has been announced since the series started in 2009. In the past Zee News has successfully conducted the campaign in Assembly elections of Maharashtra, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar & West Bengal, and the recent 2012 Assembly elections.

Zee News, nation's most trusted news channel, has been once again acknowledged by the Limca Book of Records 2011-12. This follows in quick succession to its environmental campaign 'My Earth My Duty' was listed, the channel will find mention for organising and executing country's largest voter awareness campaign, 'Aapka Vote Aapki Taaqat'. The campaign is one of its kind that has not only reached the grass root of India, but involved the youth of India in association with various youth influential organisations.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has also announced that Zee News has won the National Media Award on Voter Education of Election Commission of India for its outstanding campaign towards creating voters' awareness in the Assembly election (January-March 2012), especially in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

On the occasion, Rohit Kumar, Marketing Head, Zee News, said, “Zee News is committed to create awareness in Indian citizenry of their voting rights and wishes to educate them to cast their ballot judiciously.  Given the different cultures and lifestyles of Indians, Zee News does not want to leave any stone unturned to reach to the grassroots of the country and we are happy to see increase in polling percentage in Himachal Pradesh.”

Apart from winning national award this year due to its wide reach the Campaign became the nation's largest voter education campaign and got registered in Limca Book of Records.
