DNA CEO KU Rao shifted to Essel Group

After the complete takeover of Diligent Media Corporation, which owns Mumbai-based English newspaper DNA (Daily News & Analysis) by Zee Group, DNA has seen its first big movement. DNA's CEO KU Rao has been moved to Essel Group in a corporate role with effect from November 26, 2012. Highly placed industry sources have confirmed the news to BestMediaInfo.com.
Rao had had joined DNA as CEO on October 4, 2006. Prior to joining DNA, he had a strong sales background in a non-media company. Rao had spent 12 years with Shell as Global Head of Sales & Business Development for the car care business of Shell Lubricants, London.
While DNA is yet to find the replacement to Rao, it is pertinent to note that Bhaskar Das, former President of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL) is all set to head a new entity under Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd which will include all the news operations of the Zee Group – Zee News Ltd. cluster covering Zee News, Zee Business, Marathi news channel Zee 24 Taas and Bengali news channel 24 Ghanta, DNA and digital businesses.
For over three decades, the Essel Group has been a leading business conglomerate with diverse business presence across media, entertainment, packaging, infrastructure, education, precious metals and technology sectors. Essel is the promoting company of ZEE and DNA.
