Khumaar, a musical concert, is a personal initiative of Bipin Pandit, COO, The Advertising Club. It aims at entertaining corporates through quality music and songs. With a team of 18 professionals, Khumaar thrives to enthrall the audience through meticulously selected songs and music that makes an effort to inch closer to the original score. Khumaar has successfully held many shows in Mumbai and also outside Mumbai. The aim is to go international this year.
All the shows held so far had a packed audience with participation from the advertising, media and marketing fraternity. Khumaar had instant acceptance and connect with the audience as some of them stood for the entire duration of the programme. Khumaar was lucky to be graced with the presence of artistes of the calibre of Pandit Suresh Wadkar and Roopkumar Rathod.
Pandit said, “Having performed for 20 years as a professional Hindi compere with a blend of Urdu along with mimicry, I thought of floating a musical outfit. Thus was Khumaar born. We render old Hindi musical hits from great films of yesteryear. In order to lend variety to the programme we include ghazals and Sufi song along with a qawwali sequence. A chosen few new songs are also rendered.”
Am also having a social angle in mind by supporting activities of an NGO, Light of Life trust piloted by Villy Doctor and also CPAA ( Cancer patients aid association) through this musical show. They do a host of good work that includes reinstating of dropout girls to school, providing help to people with terminal illness and free medical attention. What CPAA does is known to all.
This year Khumaar will happen in the first week of February 2013. “The theme for the first half is romance as the programme will salute three romantic superstars – Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna, and also the man who breathed romance – the legendary Yash Chopra. We will also pay homage to actor Joy Mukherjee with some great Mohammad Rafi numbers,” added Pandit.
Pandit is also planning to come out with a book of rare articles on playback singers, musicians and lyricsts by people from the corporate world who are as passionate about music. The book will have rare pictures of legends from the music world. “A part of the sale proceeds will go for a social cause,” informed Pandit, adding that he plans to launch the book on the day of Khumaar concert.
