SITI Cable introduces monthly digital cable TV packages

The move is part of its commitment for timely implementation of the first phase of digitisation in its three lucrative markets of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata

Siti Cable Network (formerly known as Wire & Wireless (India - WWIL), as part of its commitment for timely implementation of the first phase of digitisation in its three lucrative markets of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, has introduced digital cable television packages.

Initially, Siti Digital will offer two packages – Janta and Popular packs. The channels in these packs are listed genre wise and differentiation in the packages has been created based on the needs and choices of existing cable TV consumers.

The Popular pack is offered at Rs 150 per month plus 12.36 per cent service tax and Rs 20 entertainment tax for Delhi, and Rs 45 entertainment tax for Mumbai. It offers 142 channels to Delhi subscribers, 153 channels to Mumbai subscribers and 151 channels to Kolkata subscribers. It has both pay and FTA channels from different genres like Hindi Entertainment, Hindi Movies, Hindi News, English News, Hindi Business News, Kids Music, Lifestyle, Infotainment & Education, International, Sports, devotional and regional channels.

The Janta pack comprises 118 channels at a cost of Rs100 per month plus 12.36 per cent service tax and Rs 20 entertainment tax for Delhi and Rs 45 entertainment tax for Mumbai. It has channels from different genres and regional channels.

The subscriber needs to install a digital set-top box before the digitisation deadline. Siti Digital offers STBs under the following schemes: Operating Lease - Rs 712 as one-time activation charge; Rental - Rs 1,000 as refundable security deposit and Rs. 30 per month; Outright Purchase - Rs 1,600; Hire purchase – Rs 750 as non-refundable upfront payment and Rs 30 per month for 60 months.

In addition to the above STB charges, subscribers will also have to pay the monthly charges for the chosen package.
