Dentsu India is not going to renew Sunil Lulla’s contract at the agency, sources close to the development informed BestMediaInfo.com.
While Dentsu International refused to comment on the development, BestMediaInfo.com is yet to hear back from Lulla as the queries posted to him went unanswered.
The advertising conglomerate had appointed Lulla as its consultant advisor for India in April 2022.
Lulla’s job for the agency was to drive business growth and activation in the market.
Lulla became the consultant at the agency at a time when Dentsu faced almost an exodus of senior leadership, with Anand Bhadkamkar (India CEO) and Ashish Bhasin (APAC CEO and Chairman India) quitting the company.
During his contract with the company, he was working under Peter Huijboom, the interim CEO.
Sources also told BestMediaInfo.com that Dentsu will soon be announcing the name of its India CEO.
Before becoming a consultant advisor for Dentsu, he served as CEO of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).
Last week, a special court in Lucknow took cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Lulla in the TRP scam and summoned him to appear on March 9 for framing of charges, reported NewsDrum.in.
Before becoming BARC CEO, Lulla launched ‘The Linus Adventures’, his in-residence consultancy firm that provides services towards growing businesses and building brands.
Lulla has also worked with Balaji Telefilms as group CEO in his previous stints. Before that, he was the Chairman and Managing Director at Grey Group India, apart from serving as the CEO of Times Network.
