When the Indian M&E industry will grow to $55–65bn by 2030 from $27-29bn in 2022, OTT will register fastest growth and its contribution to the overall size will be at par with television, according to CII – BCG Big Picture 2022 Report.
Both OTT and television will command 20-22% pie (~Rs 1,00,000 crore) in Indian M&E industry valued at ~Rs 4,50,000 crore in 2030.
In 2022, the OTT industry is expected to have a share of 8-10% against the 32-34% market share held by television.
The OTT market size is valued at ~Rs 20,000 crore in 2022 while TV commands a market size of ~Rs 74,000 crore.
Besides TV and OTT, the other mediums will also go through significant changes, according to the projection made by BCG.
The gaming industry which is at 8-10% in 2022 with OTT will grow to 15-17% in 2030.
BCG report gave a bad news for print which will command half of the market share in 2030 from what it commands in 2022.
In 2022, print commands a share of 22-25% which will reduce to 10-12% after eight years.
On the other hand, digital advertising’s contribution to the overall M&E industry size will grow to 15-16% in 2030 from 11-13% in 2022.
According to the BCG projections, the size of digital advertising will grow to ~Rs 70,000 crore in 2030, up 2.6X from ~Rs 27,000 crore in 2022.
AVCG sector will grow from 2-4% in 2022 to 6-8% in 2030.
Other mediums which include outdoor and cinema will remain more or less at same levels between 10-12%.
