GEC Watch: Sony climbs to the top in Urban markets in Week 2

Sony leads Hindi GEC chart in Urban market and secures second spot in the Urban+Rural markets. Star Plus witness a major fall in its ranking as it slips to sixth position in Urban+Rural markets

Sony Entertainment Television grabbed top spot in the Urban markets while Star Plus slipped to the second place for the Week 2 of 2019. On BARC’s Hindi GEC chart, Sony Television also witnessed growth in the Urban + Rural market as it moved to the second rank. Star Plus witnessed a major fall in Urban+Rural markets as it slipped to the sixth rank, from previous second position.

Top channels in U+R market

According to BARC data, India HSM (Urban+Rural): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, for Week 2 (January 5-11) of 2019, Zee Anmol at the No.1 position clocked 825.917 million Impressions (last week 823.945 million Impressions). Sony Entertainment Television with 631.520 million Impressions (last week 598.328 million Impressions) moved up to the second rank. Zee TV followed on the third spot with 621.026 million Impressions (last week 648.320 million Impressions). Star Bharat stayed at the fourth position with 613.744 million Impressions (last week 611.114 million Impressions).

Star Utsav with 602.723 million Impressions (last week 564.417 million Impressions) jumped to fifth while Star Plus fell to the sixth spot with 598.561 million Impressions (last week 670.747 million Impressions). Colors slipped to seventh with 592.489 million Impressions (last week 584.887 million Impressions). Sony Pal stayed at eighth with 521.011 million Impressions (last week 533.528 million Impressions). Rishtey moved to the ninth rank with 484.384 million Impressions (last week 460.052 million Impressions) as Dangal TV fell to 10th position with 479.688 million Impressions (last week 463.740 million Impressions).

Top shows in U+R market

Colors’s Naagin 3 entered the list on top spot, logging 14.277 million Impressions whereas the channel’s non-fiction show Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi Jigar Pe Trigger entered the list on second rank with 14.250 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya slipped to the third spot, registering 13.958 million Impressions (last week 14.449 million Impressions). While Zee Anmol’s Kundali Bhagya entered the fourth spot with 13.938 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television’s The Kapil Sharma Show stayed at the fifth spot with 11.614 million Impressions (last week 10.542 million Impressions).

Top channels in Urban market

In Week 2, Sony Entertainment Television grabbed the top spot, registering 466.851 million Impressions (last week 439.441 million Impressions). Star Plus slipped to second rank with 418.398 million Impressions (last week 470.892 million Impressions). Colors stayed at the third position with 397.884 million Impressions (last week 401.236 million Impressions) followed by Zee TV at the fourth spot, registering 380.869 million Impressions (last week 392.103 million Impressions). Star Bharat and Sony SAB maintained fifth and sixth ranks. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya remained at No.1 position and registered 11.586 million Impressions (last week 11.888 million Impressions). Zee Anmol’s Kundali Bhagya entered the list of second spot with 11.446 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Mehak stayed at the third position, clocking 8.845 million Impressions (last week 7.553 million Impressions). Dangal TV’s Ramayan stayed at fourth spot with 7.911 million Impressions (last week 8.101 million Impressions).
