'Hundreds' of Google's ad sales employees impacted in latest round of layoffs

After laying off a thousand employees last week, Google has now announced that it will be letting go ‘a few hundred’ employees in its ad sales division globally.

As per a leaked memo from Philipp Schindler, Chief Business Officer, Google, this move comes as a result of the tech giant’s restructuring and a change in how its sales team operated.

According to reports, Google has been shifting more staff away from large customer sales to its customer solutions team as large clients didn’t need access to as many resources of the tech giant and therefore making its GCS team the core ad sales team.

With this, Google is also attempting to automate more of its processes through products such as Performance Max, which uses Google's Artificial Intelligence to determine how advertisers' monies should be spent across products.
