Dabur's ad spends decline 16.7% YoY to Rs 640.27 crores in FY23

On a quarterly basis, too, Dabur's ad spends have not increased by even one percent in Q4 of FY23, on a YoY basis, as the FMCG major spent Rs 151.63 crores, juxtaposed to Q4FY22's Rs 150.33 crores

Dabur's ad spends decline 16.7% YoY to Rs 640.27 crores in FY23

Dabur India has reported a 16.70% decline in its annual spending on advertising and publicity as it spent Rs 640.27 crores in FY23, juxtaposed to Rs 774.94 crores it spent during the whole of FY22.

The ad spends of the FMCG player during the quarter ended March 31, 2023 stood at Rs 151.63 crores, as opposed to the Rs 150.33 crores it had spent in the corresponding quarter in the previous year, and therefore recorded a marginal increase of 0.86%.

Moreover, the FMCG giant also recorded a marginal decline of 2.35% in its consolidated net profit, which stood at Rs 1701.33 crores for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023, as compared to previous year’s Rs 1742.33 crores.

In terms of quarter ended March 31, 2023, too, Dabur’s net profit marginally declined by 0.54% as the consolidated net profit for Q4 stood at Rs 292.76 crore, as opposed to Rs 294.34 crore it recorded in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Similarly, the FMCG major’s total expenses were higher by 12.19% - as the company spent Rs 2,402.08 crores in FY23’s Q4, compared to Rs 2,141.04 crore in Q4 of FY22. Additionally, in terms of FY23, Dabur’s total expenses were up 9.28% at Rs 9754.97 crores, from the previous year’s Rs 8926.36 crores.

It is to be noted that the total expenses include cost of materials consumed (including excise duty), purchase of stock in trade, and among others it also includes expenses on advertising and publicity.

However, the consolidated revenue from operations of the FMCG major in Q4 stood at Rs 2677.80 crores against Rs 2517.81 crores a year ago, up 6.35% YoY. In terms of the fiscal ended March 31, 2023, the same was up 5.89% at Rs 11529.89 crores as compared to 2022’s Rs 10888.68 crores.

As per the company’s filing, during Q4, Dabur’s consumer care business revenue recorded Rs 2096.65 crore against Rs 2095.15 crore in the year-ago period; the food business clocked Rs 521.17 crore, up from Rs 359.9 crore, while the retail business stood at Rs 27.48 crore against Rs 22.26 crore in the year-ago period.
