Amazon plans to run shopping ads on Snapchat soon: Reports

In a first, Amazon has decided to team up with Snapchat to allow users in the United States to buy Amazon products right from ads on social media platform as the e-commerce giant looks to capitalise on the growing use of social media for shopping.

Having said that, Amazon currently has similar tie-ups with Meta platforms, including Instagram and Facebook, as well as  Pinterest.

The news which was first broken by The Information also mentions that the tie-up will allow customers to shop directly from Amazon ads on Snapchat and check out without leaving the app.

Also, potential buyers would be able to see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates and product details on select Amazon product ads in Snapchat, the Seattle-based company mentioned in a statement.

With social networks increasingly influencing shopping trends and patterns, platforms such as TikTok are also launching their own online shopping services, while others like Snapchat are allowing e-commerce firms to tap into their subscriber base.

It is believed that the Amazon-Snapchat partnership could help in recovering the latter’s advertising business and also aid Snap in positioning itself as a major shopping destination, something it has struggled to do previously.
