Users can now manage info shared by businesses with Meta as Instagram gets 'Activity Off' feature

Building on its efforts to make finding and managing certain settings across its various platforms more consistent for users, Meta has expanded Facebook’s ‘Activity Off-Meta Technologies’ and ‘Transfer Your Information’ to Instagram.

“Activity Off-Meta Technologies allows you to manage how information other businesses send to us is connected to your Facebook and Instagram accounts. You can easily review the businesses that are sharing data with Meta, disconnect specific ones to further personalise your experience, or clear this data entirely – it’s up to you,” mentioned Robert d'Apice, Director of Product Management, Meta, in a company statement.

Similarly, under ‘Transfer Your Information’ on Instagram, users can now transfer all of their Instagram photos and videos to other services, making it much easier to share and save memories which marks a big step forward in data portability.

Along with this, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram amongst others is also moving additional controls into Accounts Center in the Settings menu to make it easier for users to manage their information across apps including Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.

“Download Your Information and Access Your Information are now centralised in Accounts Center, and you can now download information from both your Facebook and Instagram accounts at the same time,” d’Apice added.

Given that people today want to be able to easily make decisions for multiple apps at once, Meta has moved these settings into the Accounts Center.
