Amazon Prime Video planning to roll out ad-supported tier: Reports

Amazon is planning to launch an ad-supported tier for its OTT offering Prime Video for which it is still in the early stages of discussions with Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount for Max and Paramount Plus, as per reports.

As of now, the SVOD OTT platform’s subscription is available under two options- one costs  $14.99 per month under Prime Membership and the other standalone one which costs $8.99 per month globally.

As reported first by The Wall Street Journal, Amazon has been weighing in on the various ways of implementing ads in Prime Video including showing more ads to existing subscribers and adding an option to pay more for an ad-free experience and more.

Additionally, the tech company is also doubling down on Freevee, its Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) service, by adding content from Prime Video, as per reports.

All these measures are believed to fall in line with the tech giant eyeing to bring more money to better deal with the uncertain global economic headwinds.
