JioCinema smashes records, clocks 2.2 crore concurrent viewership in CSK vs RR clash

The Wednesday match between Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals IPL 2023 on JioCinema clocked 2.2 crore concurrent viewership during the second innings, as per the platform.

The concurrent viewership touched 2.2 crore when CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was out on the pitch in the second innings and it seemed like he was going to take his team to a win, something that he’s known for.

But Rajasthan Royals seamer Sandeep Sharma nailed a couple of perfect block-hole deliveries to earn a three-run victory for Rajasthan Royals over Chennai Super Kings in a close IPL encounter. The second innings garnered the highest viewership recorded ever in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the platform said.

As per the platform, the highest viewership recorded on its competitor and the earlier streaming platform for IPL – Disney+ Hotstar - was 1.86 crore during the final match of 2019 season.

JioCinema also said that the free streaming of the IPL 2023 for all viewers in India has resulted in over 550 crore views in the first week. This followed the first weekend which amassed 147 crore views. Additionally, JioCinema has registered highest ever number for any apps installed.

In terms of sponsorships and advertisers, JioCinema has so far roped in 23 sponsors for the tournament, along with other brands as advertisers.
