Hindustan Unilever spent Rs 1,311 crore on advertising in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2023, up by 1.2% from the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company had spent Rs 1,296 crore in Q4 of FY22.
Although, the Q4 ad spend was 8.4% more than the previous quarter ending December 31, 2023. The company had spent Rs 1,209 crore on advertising and promotions in Q3 FY 2023.
Altogether, the company spent Rs 4,907 crore on advertising in FY23 in comparison to Rs 4,744 crore spent in FY 2022, up by 3.4%.
HUL reported an increase of 12.74% in its consolidated net profit at Rs 2,601 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2023.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,307 crore in the January-March quarter of the previous fiscal.
Its revenue from sales during the quarter under review stood at Rs 14,926 crore, up 10.83%, as against Rs 13,468 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, Hindustan Unilever (HUL) said in a regulatory filing.
"HUL delivered strong performance with turnover growth of 11% and underlying volume growth of 4%. Growth was competitive with more than 75% of the business winning market shares," HUL said in its earnings statement.
HUL's total expenses were Rs 11,961 crore in Q4/FY23, as against Rs 10,782 crore.
The total income of HUL in the March quarter was Rs 15,375 crore.
For the financial year ending March 31, 2023, HUL's operations revenue was Rs 59,443 crore, up 15.49%. It was at Rs 51,472 crore a year earlier.
Its Home Care segment delivered a quarter of solid performance with 19% revenue growth. Beauty & Personal Care grew 10% with broad-based performance across categories. Foods & Refreshment grew 3% led by Foods, Coffee and Health Food Drinks (HFD).
"In challenging geopolitical uncertainties, high commodity inflation and tepid market growths, I am pleased that we have delivered yet another year of strong and resilient performance. We have added around Rs 8,000 crores to our topline in this fiscal with volume growth in mid-single digits despite a decline in FMCG market volumes," HUL CEO and Managing Director Sanjiv Mehta said.
