The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the theme song - ‘Ye Toh Bas Shuruat Hai’ - for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League.
WPL is set to begin from March 4, and the theme song was released right ahead of the opening ceremony.
The song captures the essence of the league. It is a tribute to the Indian women cricketers' resilience and the hardships faced by them to achieve their present stature. It also encourages the women players to stay determined.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had earlier shared a teaser of the title song through a tweet.

BCCI’s initiative has gained much traction on Twitter. Fans appreciated the theme song, and expressed the hope that the league would become a huge success.
"League anthem doesn’t mean you have to be doing fancy stuff, it definitely got worth listening to lyrics and music better than many going around," a Twitter user wrote.
"Awesome. We're so used to the IPL tune that it might take some time to get adjusted to this new tune. But, once we're tuned, this WPL anthem is going to light up the March WPL festival!" another user commented.
Coming to the IPL’s iconic title tune, it became an important part of the tournament's cultural identity, which captured the spirit of the league. The tune is often played during the matches to energise the crowd. The IPL title tune has become an integral part of the tournament.
IPL's first edition, in 2008, marked the debut of the league's theme song which was composed by musician AR Rahman.
Ahead of the highly anticipated league, the BCCI has also unveiled the WPL 2023 mascot, a tigress, named 'Shakti'.
In the short clip, the mascot is seen decked up in cricket gear hitting the ball out of the stadiums. The video also features the title song 'Ye Toh Bas Shuruat Hai'.
“Fast, fierce and full of fire! She's ready to set the field ablaze, lekin #YehTohBasShuruatHai! Introducing the embodiment of the TATA WPL our mascot Shakti!” Shah wrote sharing the clip featuring the mascot.
