Twitter owner Elon Musk Friday announced that Twitter will start sharing ad revenue with creators.

“Starting today, Twitter will share ad revenue with creators for ads that appear in their reply threads,” Musk wrote.

Talking about eligibility, Musk said that Twitter Blue Tick subscribers will only be eligible for revenue sharing.

Musk has on several occasions said that he would soon introduce ad revenue sharing with creators.

Musk also hinted in November that Twitter would surpass YouTube's rate of paying creators 55% of total ad revenue from their videos.

"We can beat that," Musk had tweeted.

Back then, BestMediaInfo.com did a story where it spoke to experts to understand what impact will it have on other social media platforms and the creator economy.

Experts then shared that while nothing is impossible, it might take longer for Twitter to beat YouTube when it comes to revenue sharing with creators as Youtube has been doing it for years and it will take time for Twitter to actually surpass it.
