Domino's faces Twitterati's wrath after photo of pizza dough kept below mop and toilet brush surfaces

Pizza restaurants chain Domino's faced a major backlash online after a Twitter user posted a picture purportedly showing a mop and a toilet brush hanging above the pizza dough and almost touching it.

The image and video were posted by a Twitter user named Sahil Karnany, who identifies himself as an IT graduate. Sharing the same he claimed that these were from one of the chain’s outlets from Karnataka’s capital city. He wrote, “This is how @dominos_india serves us fresh Pizza! Very disgusted. Location: Bangalore."

He also tagged the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Ministry of Health, Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and claimed that the outlet in question was on Hosa Road in the city, reported PTI.

After the photo went viral, consumers started reacting to the same and showing their anger. Some of them wrote, “Shame on you Dominos, you deserve a heavy penalty for doing this to the people.”

Some users used hashtags like #dominosindia #jawabdo, while others objected to the unhygienic practices followed by them, “This is Pizza dough at Dominos kept right under the broom. The point is what other unhygienic practices are there that we don't even know of?”

Domino's Care later responded to the incident and issued a statement in which it assured of strict action against those who would be found responsible for the same. In a statement, the brand said, "We adhere to stringent world-class protocols for ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. We have zero tolerance for violations of these operating standards. The incident brought to our notice will be thoroughly investigated and basis the findings, appropriate measures will be rolled out. Rest assured we remain committed to doing everything necessary towards ensuring the safety and well-being of our customers."
