Everyone including the media thought that actor Shah Rukh Khan was about to launch a new OTT app called SRK+. The actor first gave a hint about the same on his social media handles on Tuesday which went viral in a few hours. Some celebrities like Karan Johar, Salman Khan and Anurag Kashyap had also posted about it yesterday.
Immediately, there were several stories on the internet from media houses claiming that Shah Rukh Khan was indeed set to launch an OTT platform. This helped Disney+ Hotstar garner huge traction and media value with the campaign going viral.
On Wednesday, Disney+ Hotstar released a new ad film featuring SRK. The film talks about how the platform has all the types of content one could need and this is why the star is unable to launch his new app.

Speaking about the campaign, Sidharth Shakdher, EVP and CMO, Disney+Hotstar, said the marketing for the platforms has always been about raising the bar and doing the unthinkable.
Last year too, the platforms had created hype about SRK’s possible OTT debut. The film spoke about how there are several movies on the platform with all the superstars and this is why there is nothing left for SRK to explore.
