In January this year, advertising volumes on television grew by 23% over the same period in 2020 and 19% over 2019, according to BARC’s findings. However, there has been a 4% de-growth in ad volumes when comparing January Week 1-Week 4 2019 versus 2020.

The 23% growth in January (Week 1-4) 2021 versus 2020 is the highest in three years, according to BARC. The kids’ genre has seen the highest growth rate of 35% in the period. The music genre grew by 31% meanwhile the movie genre grew by 28%.
Surprisingly, the GEC genre saw a 23% jump, followed by the news genre which grew by just 18% in January (Week 1-4) 2021 versus 2020.
