GEC Watch: Sony Entertainment Television grabs second spot in Urban market for Week 52

Sony Entertainment Television’s ranking improves following the Indian Idol season 10 finale in the Urban and U+R markets while Zee TV reclaims second spot in U+R market

Sony Entertainment Television grabbed the second spot in the Urban market at the back of Indian Idol S10 finale in the latest BARC ratings. The channel’s ranking also improved in the U+R market as it climbed to the fifth rank on BARC’s Hindi GEC chart for Week 52. FTA channel Zee Anmol led the combined U+R and Rural markets while Zee TV and Star Bharat moved to the second and third slots in the U+R markets.

Top channels in U+R market

According to BARC data, India HSM (Urban+Rural): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, for Week 52 (December 22-December 28) of 2018, Zee Anmol at the No.1 position clocked 783.610 million Impressions (last week 764.424 million Impressions). Zee TV reclaimed the second spot with 667.580 million Impressions (last week 714.003 million Impressions) followed by Star Bharat at the third position with 650.558 million Impressions (last week 685.395 million Impressions). Star Plus dropped to fourth with 621.686 million Impressions (last week 726.911 million Impressions). Sony Entertainment Television with 581.218 million Impressions (last week 497.633 million Impressions) jumped to the fifth rank. Star Utsav with 567.006 million Impressions (last week 561.540 million Impressions) fell to sixth, followed by Colors with 551.962 million Impressions (last week 551.706 million Impressions). Sony Pal stayed at the seventh rank with 538.666 million Impressions (last week 518.218 million Impressions). Sony Entertainment Television with 497.633 million Impressions (last week 497.633 million Impressions) took the eighth rank. Rishtey moved to the ninth rank with 464.947 million Impressions (last week 417.356 million Impressions) while Dangal TV dropped to 10th with 459.737 million Impressions (last week 446.359 million Impressions).

Sony Entertainment Television’s Indian Idol entered the list on the third spot with 12.176 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya slipped to fourth with 11.099 (last week 11.440 million Impressions). Star Bharat’s Radhakrishn at the fifth rank and registered 10.663 million Impressions (last week 10.496 million Impressions).

In Week 51, Star Plus maintained its lead in the urban market. The channel stayed at the No. 1 position, garnering 429.732 million Impressions (last week 508.025 million Impressions). Sony Entertainment Television climbed to No.2 position, registering 424.615 million impressions (last week 368.641 million Impressions).
