Doordarshan, which began as an experiment on September 15, 1959, and became a service in 1965, turned 60 last Sunday.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, who was also present on the occasion, compared Doordarshan with international news channels such as BBC and CNN and said DD India will soon be visible all over the world.

He talked about the distribution pattern of Doordarshan and how it was successful in connecting millions across the nation. “Korean TV will broadcast on Doordarshan Free Dish and DD India will be available on the Korean Government’s broadcast platform.
