GEC Watch: Star Plus grabs second spot in U+R market for Week 53

Star Plus climbs to the second spot in the U+R market while Zee TV slips to third. Sony Entertainment Television maintains its second position in the Urban market and Colors moves to the third spot

Star Plus moved up to the second position in the Urban + Rural market as Zee TV slipped to the third position on BARC’s Hindi GEC chart for Week 53. Colors moved to the third position in the Urban market with the help of Bigg Boss S12 Finale. Sony Entertainment Television maintained its second position on the back of The Kapil Sharma Show and Super Dancer Chapter 3 auditions.

Top channels in U+R market

According to BARC data, India HSM (Urban+Rural): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, for Week 52 (December 22-December 28) of 2018, Zee Anmol at the No.1 position clocked 823.945 million Impressions (last week 783.610 million Impressions).

Star Plus moved up to the second spot with 670.747 million Impressions ((last week 621.686 million Impressions) as Zee TV slipped to the third spot with 648.320 million Impressions (last week 667.580 million Impressions). Star Bharat followed on fourth position with 611.114 million Impressions (last week 650.558 million Impressions). Sony Entertainment Television with 598.328 million Impressions (last week 581.218 million Impressions) maintained the fifth rank.  Colors with 584.887 million Impressions (last week 551.962 million Impressions) took the sixth spot followed by Star Utsav with 564.417 million Impressions (last week 567.006 million Impressions) fell to the seventh spot. Sony Pal stayed at eighth with 533.528 million Impressions (last week 538.666 million Impressions). Dangal TV moved to the ninth position with 463.740 million Impressions (last week 459.737 million Impressions) while Rishtey dropped to the 10th rank with 460.052 million Impressions (last week 464.947 million Impressions).

Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya stayed at the top spot, logging 14.449 million Impressions (last week 14.093 million Impressions). Star Plus’ Star Screen Awards 2019 entered the list on the second spot with 11.839 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television’s Super Dancer Chapter 3 Auditions with 11.185 million Impressions entered the list at the third position.   Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya maintained the fourth spot with 10.910 million Impression (last week 11.099 million Impressions). Sony Entertainment Television’s The Kapil Sharma Show entered the list on the fifth spot with 10.542 million Impressions.

In Week 51, Star Plus maintained its lead in the Urban market. The channel stayed at the No. 1 position, garnering 470.892 million Impressions (last week 429.732 million Impressions).  Sony Entertainment Television climbed to the No. 2 position, registering 439.441 million Impressions (last week 424.615 million Impressions). Colors moved up to the third position with 401.236 million Impressions (last week 379.617 million Impressions) while Zee TV slipped to the fourth position, registering 392.103 million Impressions (last week 410.223 million Impressions). Star Bharat with 316.116 million Impressions (last week 337.017 million Impressions) stayed at the No. 5 position followed by Sony SAB at No. 6 with 296.948 million Impressions (last week 310.264 million Impressions).
