GEC Watch: Zee Anmol and Star Plus lead the respective GEC markets

Zee TV lost close to 40 million Impressions in the U+R market. As per BARC India data, Star Plus maintained its lead in the urban markets, while Zee Anmol leads the rural markets. Almost all the channel have lost significant viewership in the urban markets

Zee Anmol stayed at the top in the Hindi GEC genre in the U+R markets in Week 33 of 2018 (August 11-17), Zee TV lost close to 40 million Impressions in the U+R market. As per BARC India data, Star Plus maintained its lead in the urban markets, while Zee Anmol leads the rural markets. Almost all the channel have lost significant viewership in the urban markets.

Amongst the top shows, Colors Dance Deewane re-entered the U+R list, while all the other rankings largely remained the same in all three segments.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 33 of 2018 (August 11-17) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol remained at the leadership position in the U+R markets with 760.162 million (last week 747.862 million) Impressions. Star Utsav grew to claim the No. 2 spot garnering 702.233 million (last week 665.087 million) Impressions. Star Plus, dropped to No. 3 with 659.629 million (last week 682.867 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 4 position, clocking 616.717 million (last week 614.763 million) Impressions. At No. 5, Star Bharat grabbed 613.947 million (last week 613.191 million) Impressions, Zee TV too dropped significant numbers to slip to the No. 6 spot in this week, clocking 585.372 million (last week 621.587 million) Impressions, followed by Colors, that stayed at No. 7, garnering 578.653 million (last week 596.396 million) Impressions. Rishtey stood at No. 8 position with 512.119 million (last week 526.501 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was at No. 9 by clocking 455.355 million (last week 491.619 million) Impressions. Sony Sab re-entered the top channels’ list at No. 10, clocking 444.958 million Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets 

Colors’ Naagin-3 clocked 14.905 million (last week 15.221 million) Impressions, leading the most watched programmes list in the U+R segment. As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, while Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya came in next by clocking 12.529 million (last week 13.130 million)  Impressions. Colors’ Dance Deewane stood at No. 3 with 11.706 million Impressions. At No. 4, Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlaata Hai clocked 11.479 million (last week 11.579 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya was at No. 5 that garnering 11.009 million (last week 12.683 million)  Impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

Star Plus continued to improve its viewership significantly in Week 33 and reached the top spot in the urban markets with 452.933  million (last week 486.654 million) Impressions. Colors in turn lost close to 12 million Impressions slipping to No. 2, garnering 400.613 million (last week 405.648 million) Impressions. Zee TV, meanwhile, at No. 3 clocked 355.705  million (last week 382.400 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television, at No. 4 spot grabbed 340.689 million (last week 361.707 million) Impressions, followed by Sony SAB at No. 5, that clocked 330.276million (last week 314.940 million) Impressions. At No. 6, Star Bharat garnered 295.310  million (last week 303.380 million) Impressions. Star Utsav at No. 7 garnered 202.136 million (last week 195.176 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Pal that stood at No. 8 with 178.308  million (last week 173.077 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol at No. 9 registered 160.515 million (last week 156.093 million) Impressions. &TV was at the last spot clocking 132.254  million (last week 137.557 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in urban markets

Colors’ Naagin-3 remained the most watched show in the urban markets with 9.919 million (last week 9.631 million) Impressions, followed by Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that garnered 8.152 million (last week 8.396  million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 3.8035 with million (last week 7.951 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya slipped to the fourth spot in the most watched shows list, by clocking 7.529 million (last week 7.709 million) Impressions in the urban market. Colors’ Dance Deewane slipped to No. 5 with 6.655  million (last week 7.401 million) Impressions.

Top channels in rural markets

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 599.647 million (last week 591.769 million) Impressions. Star Utsav was at No. 2 position garnering 500.096 million (last week 469.911 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at No. 3 in rural markets garnering 438.408 million (last week 441.686 million) Impressions. Rishtey climbed a spot up, to reach No. 4 with 385.097 million (last week 415.929 million) Impressions. Dangal, at No. 5, clocked 321.624 million (last week 339.149 million) Impressions. Star Bharat, at No. 6 in the rural markets, recorded 318.637 million (last week 309.811 million) Impressions. Zee TV which stayed at No. 7 with 229.668 million (last week  239.188 million) Impressions. Big Magic followed with 228.622 million (last week 220.708 million) Impressions. Star Plus, at No. 9, garnered 206.696 million (last week 196.213 million) Impressions. Colors at No. 10 clocked 178.040 million (last week 190.748 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in rural markets

Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya was the most watched show in the rural market grabbing 8.982 million (last week 10.446 million). Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that clocked 6.381 million (last week 6.896 million) Impressions, stood at No. 2. Star Utsav’s Rabba Ve entered the top five shows’ list for the first time at No. 3, garnering 6.321 million (last week 6.483 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Mehak stayed at the fourth spot in the rural markets gathering 6.012 million (last week 6.336 million) Impressions, followed by Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya that stood next with 5.001 million (last week 5.590 million) Impressions.
