Sony Entertainment Television is launching two big ticket properties in the last week of September this festive season. The channel’s own format of kids dance talent hunt show Super Dancer is coming back with a season 2 on September 30, while the fiction show Mere Sai will be launched on September 25.
The first season of Super Dancer did wonders for the channel and stood out as the only non-fiction property to be listed in the 10 most watched shows list of BARC in 2016.
Themed around ‘Magic mehnat mein hai’ (The magic lies in hard work), the dance reality show will see a comeback of the three most loved judges–actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, filmmaker Anurag Basu and choreographer Geeta Kapur. The show will be hosted by Rithvik Dhanjani and Paritosh Tripathi. Every contestant will undergo extensive training and guidance from Super Gurus hailing from across the country.
Danish Khan, EVP and Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, said, “We are extremely proud of Super Dancer. In its debut year itself, it went on to become the No. 1 show on Indian television. It’s a new format, which has become a rage in international markets as well. We are delighted to present Chapter 2 with never-seen-before talents. These talents will be nurtured by our three judges, Shetty, Basu and Kapur along with great mentors. Frames Production has done a great job in putting together a brand new season that will not only push the envelope but also create new benchmark in television talent show in India.”
Produced by Frames Productions, Super Dancer Chapter 2, will premiere on September 30, on weekends at 8 pm. The nationwide hunt for India’s dancing talents had commenced in July with kids auditioning for the show across 10 cities. Among these mammoth number of aspirants, 12 contestants have made it on the show and will soon be seen competing for the converted title to be India’s next Super Dancer.
Ranjeet Thakur and Hemant Ruparel, Producers, Frames Production Company, said, “Super Dancer Chapter 2 will once again search for the biggest dance protégée who will be the future of dance. This year, the show will take the entertainment and dancing factor a notch higher. We have gone far and wide across the country in our search for the right talent. As always, it’s a delight to partner with Sony Entertainment Television. Their vision for the brand and faith in team collaboration makes for a great show.”
The second big show from the channel is a fiction series based on the life journey of Sai Baba. This year marks the 100-year completion of a momentous event of Sai Baba taking Samadhi in Shirdi. In last 100 years, his cult has multiplied exponentially and his message and teaching have brought solace to millions of his followers.
Mounted on a lavish scale, this biopic is a highly researched, authentic tale of his journey of life dramatized in an engaging screenplay format. This ambitious project will be produced by Dashami Creations. The Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust has helped the creative team in this endeavour.
Ashish Golwalkar, Senior Creative Director, Sony Entertainment Television, said, “Sai Baba has a huge following and his message of ‘Shraddha and Saburi’ (Faith and Patience) are extremely relevant in today’s age and time. We believe millions of his followers will be delighted in the way Mere Sai will be presented on Indian television.”
Abeer Soofi will be playing the role of Sai Baba, Toral Rasputra will be Baija Maa, Vaibhav Mangle will be seen as Kulkarni Sarkar, Abhishek Nigam as younger Sai Baba, Chirag Dave as Mhalsapati and Hemant Thatte as Appa Kote Patil along with other supporting casts.
