India Today Group Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Aroon Purie has announced his succession plan with the appointment of his daughter and Group Editorial Director (Broadcast & New Media) Kalli Purie as Vice-Chairperson of the group. Purie made this announcement in an internal communication.
“I have been at the helm of the India Today Group for 42 years and been very much involved in its day-to-day operations. I would now like to spend my time on strategic steering of the group and exploring new opportunities,” said Purie.
In his email to all the group employees, Purie outlined the reporting structure in the new order. “All those who reported to me will now report to the VC. In the new order, the Group CFO and the new Group CEO, when appointed, will report to the Vice-Chairperson. The Group Editorial Director (Publishing) and Group CFO will have a dotted line reporting to me. The rest of the reporting lines and structure will remain the same as before,” he said.
It may be recalled that the Group CEO Ashish Bagga had called it quits in July this year and the position was lying vacant since then.
