GEC Watch: Star Plus regains top spot in U+R, Zee Anmol leads rural

Zee TV’s spin off fiction show Kundali Bhagya has entered the top-5 shows chart in the combined and urban markets. India versus West Indies ODI on DD National has also become one of the most watched programmes in Week 28

In Week 28 (July 8-14) of BARC India data, Star Plus regained its lead position in the U+R combined markets and remained on top in the urban markets. Star Plus was closely followed by Zee TV at No. 2 position. In the rural markets, Zee Anmol led the roost while Rishtey settled at No. 2.

Zee TV’s spin off fiction series Kundali Bhagya has gained good traction following up with the original show Kumkum Bhagya and has entered the top shows’ list. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa remained on top while DD National’s ODI between India and West Indies too entered the top-5 shows list.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 28 (July 8-14) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Star Plus hopped back to the top slot with 629.101 million Impressions, pushing Zee TV to No. 2 slot. Zee TV grabbed 623.641 million Impressions. Losing significant viewership, Rishtey slipped to No. 3 position in the combined markets with 545.792 million Impressions. Zee Anmol stayed put at its No. 4 position with 544.669 million Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 5 with 528.789 million Impressions. Colors remained at No. 6 position with 513.075 million Impressions. Sony SAB stayed at No. 7 with 388.075 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was at No. 8 with 380.096 million Impressions. Life OK and Star Utsav trailed at No. 9 and 10 with 363.428 million and 290.576 million Impressions, respectively.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs and Kumkum Bhagya claimed the top two positions with 12.091 million and 12.057 million Impressions, respectively. DD National’s ODI match between West Indies and India garnered 10.220 million Impressions. Zee TV’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya has entered the top shows’ list in the urban markets at No. 4 with 9.860 million Impressions. Naagin – Season 2 on Rishtey slipped to No. 5 with 9.585 million Impressions.

Star Plus retained its urban lead with 429.222 million Impressions. Zee TV remained at No. 2 position with 369.689 million Impressions. Colors stayed at No. 3 position with 344.860 million Impressions. Sony SAB is at No. 4 with 279.497 million Impressions, followed by Sony Entertainment Television that too stayed at No. 5 with 273.327 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 236.137 million Impressions. &TV climbed to No. 7 with 152.150 million Impressions. Sony Pal maintained its position at No. 8 with 149.348 million Impressions. Rishtey slipped to No. 9 position in Urban markets with 139.686 million Impressions. Zee Anmol trailed at No. 10 with 118.557 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs and Kumkum Bhagya topped the most watched programmes’ list with 7.645 million Impressions and 7.052 million Impressions, respectively. Sony SAB’s flagship show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stayed at No. 3 with 6.178 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya garnered 5.795 million Impressions at No. 4. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai slipped to No. 5 with 5.527 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol came back to the top spot with 426.111 million Impressions, while Rishtey climbed to No. 2 garnering 406.106 million Impressions. Sony Pal stayed on to No. 3 in rural markets with 379.440 million Impressions. Zee TV remained at No. 4 with 253.952 million Impressions. Star Utsav too stayed at No. 5 with 219.604 million Impressions, followed by its elder sibling Star Plus stood at No. 6 with 199.879 million Impressions while Colors too remained at No. 7 with 168.215 million Impressions. Big Magic stood at No. 8 with 155.237 million Impressions. Life OK and Sony SAB followed at No. 9 and No. 10 with 127.291 million Impressions and 108.577 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Rishtey’s Naagin - Season 2 continued to top the list of most watched programmes list by garnering 7.164 million Impressions. DD National’s ODI match between West Indies and India garnered 6.854 million Impressions at No. 2. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja stood at No. 3 with 5.056 million Impressions, followed by Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya that appeared at No. 4 with 5.005 million Impressions, while Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah garnered 4.798 million Impressions at No. 5.
