The Mile Sur Mera Tumhara duo Louiz Banks and Piyush Pandey, Creative Chief, Ogilvy & Mather, have come together to conceptualise, build and orchestrate a musical anthem to lend support to IdeaHive’s Paani Ka Teeka Project.

In an attempt to promote water conservation for a ‘water secure India’, Pandey will be writing the lyrics of the anthem, while Banks is curating the music and bringing together the music industry to join hands and send a message to the people of India to start saving every drop, conserve and multiply this precious resource. Reportedly, Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal Dadlani, Kunal Ganjawala and Pankaj Udhas have agreed to be part of the anthem.

Years ago, the dream team of Banks and Pandey had come together for the iconic anthem “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”, which is still one of the most hummed songs by Indians.

The upcoming water conservation anthem will also see the release of a television capsule on the making of the anthem, followed by the Paani Ka Teeka fundraising concert, which will bring support to shortlisted projects across villages in India. Watershed Organisation Trust, WOTR are knowledge partners of the Paani Ka Teeka project and will be closely working on the ground impact for the initiative.

In May 2016, IdeaHive Media had launched its first national project ‘Paani ka Teeka’, a citizen’s movement initiative. The core objective of the project is to mobilise the nation and work towards creating a water secure India. Over the last few months, Paani Ka Teeka created thematic initiatives, be it during the last Ganpati Festival, urging citizens to avoid throwing nirmalya or pooja flowers in the water bodies, instead recycle them to compost, or the special Holi initiative, where they ran a campaign across Mumbai, Delhi and Pune creating the much needed awareness to play a dry Holi.

Over 60 celebrities have shared their thoughts and ideas on water conservation with the people of India through the Paani Ka Teeka social media platform this far.

Banks said, “I am happy to be part of this mega project. It’s about time that as a nation, we unite and multiply this precious resource for mankind. It gives me utmost pleasure to come together along with my music industry friends and it’s a great moment for me to work with Piyush yet again.”

Pandey said, “Water is critical for life and am very happy to collaborate with Paani Ka Teeka and Banks to make a small contribution and spread awareness in India about the necessity of saving water. I am honoured to be part of this journey.”

Dilip Moorkoth, Founder, Paani Ka Teeka project and MD, IdeaHive Media said, “We feel blessed to have this amazing partnership in Banks, Pandey and the music industry coming together for the Paani Ka Teeka Anthem. This is a path-breaking moment and we firmly believe that the anthem will spread the message and create the desired impact across the nation.”

Crispino Lobo, Managing Trustee, WOTR and Knowledge Partner said, “We are very happy to support and be part of Paani Ka Teeka. ‘We need to make saving water and using it wisely' part of our daily routine and social ethos. The anthem is truly a significant turning point in the project and we look forward to this magical moment.”
