The 11th edition of Kyoorius Designyatra presented by Zee concluded with the Kyoorius Design Awards 2016. Two Black Elephants, 22 Blue Elephants and 14 Red Elephants--the night was memorable in the Pink City of Jaipur. The Red Elephants were awarded as Kyoorius Young Blood awards, which not only showcase but also encourage young Indian talent in the visual communication space.
Kahani Designworks and Ek Type were the two winners of the Black Elephants for their campaigns The State of Architecture and Baloo, respectively. Black Elephants are reserved for the best among the best, work that involves high risk and high dedication and that has a long time impact on the industry. 468 entries were received this year for the Kyoorius Design Awards out of which 43 were the In-Book winners.
The Kyoorius Young Blood Awards received a total of 353 entries with 14 Red Elephants being rewarded and 27 In-Book winners. The Kyoorius Young Blood Award is one-of-its-kind and apart from the cash prize, the winners gets their work published in the Kyoorius Awards Annual that reaches to over 5,000 corporate, design studious and creative agencies all across India. The brief sponsors for the Kyoorius Young Blood Awards included – Café Cuba, Deloitte, Hotstar, Istock, ITSA, L&K Saatchi and Saatchi, Lodha, Loco Design, Pidilite and Samsung.
Rajesh Kejriwal, Founder and CEO, Kyoorius, said, “This year at Kyoorius Designyatra, we aimed to bring together a group of divergent thinkers to encourage interaction and creativity. We hope people will go back inspired and with anew passion and vigour towards why they are a part of this ever-growing industry.”

Ruchita Madhok, Principal, Kahani Designwork, said, “It’s amazing. It’s a huge validation for the work that Kahani has been trying to do ever since we started five years ago. This is a real team effort and this goes out to my entire team. We’ve really held each other up. This is an example that you can do amazing work if you have an amazing team to start with.”
Sarang Kulkarni, Co-Founder, Ek Type, said, “We are very happy because finally the team work gets paid and I think it’s a win of Indian typography and type design. We are really happy to see that type design getting awards will basically help the field to grow and encourage more typists to come in the field.”
Sourajit Sengupta, Project Lead, Design, Leaf, said, “We won a Blue Elephant in brand and space design. This is like the second consecutive win for us. Next year we are aiming it for winning it for a branding project. This one is very special because this is my first individual project for the company.”
Deep Chhabria, Former Copywriter at Grey, said, “My first ever design award at Kyoorius Design awards. From five nominations, I managed to bag one from L&K Saatchi & Saatchi. I’m sure the jury has done its work and this came along. It means a lot and I hope many more to come.”
