GEC Watch: Colors back at No. 2 in U+R; Sony jumps to No. 4 in Urban markets
Super Dancers pushes Sony Entertainment Television up in its launch week. Star Plus continues to lead the pack

In week 37 (September 10-16, 2016) of BARC India data, Star Plus continued to lead, while Colors replaced Zee TV as No. 2 Hindi general entertainment channel. Kids dance reality show 'Super Dancers' pushed Sony Entertainment Television up to No. 4 position in Urban markets.
Star Plus keeps its leadership strong with 712 million Impressions in combined Urban+Rural markets followed by Colors with 612 million Impressions. Zee TV slipped to third position with 547 million Impressions. Zee Anmol stood at about 494 million Impressions at No. 4 while Star Utsav is at No. 5 with 455 million Impressions.
Sony Entertainment Television stood at No. 6 with 433 million Impressions and was followed by Life OK with 430 million Impressions. At No. 8 is Sony Pal with 406 million Impressions. Sony SAB stood at the ninth position with 381 million Impressions and Rishtey stood last in the top ten with 345 million Impressions.
In the combined (U+R) markets, Zee TV's Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan was the most watched show during the week with 11.314 million Impressions and at a close distance was Colors' Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki with 11.304 million Impressions. Star Plus' Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 3 with 9.8 million Impressions. Star Plus' Ye Hai Mohabbatein is at No. 4 with 9.5 million Impressions and lastly Sony Entertainment Television's The Kapil Sharma Show garnered 8.9 million Impressions.
Top Channels in Urban markets
Star Plus retains its lead with 482 million Impressions, followed by Colors with 413 million Impressions. Zee TV saw a decline from 326 million Impressions last week to 318 million Impressions this week. In the fourth spot is Sony Entertainment Television with 301 million Impressions. It is followed by Sony SAB with 278 million Impressions.
At No. 6 is Life OK with 273 million Impressions followed by &TV with 139 million Impressions. Zee Anmol and Star Utsav stood at 116 million Impressions and 107 million Impressions respectively. Sony Pal stood at No. 10 with 107 million Impressions.
Top Programmes in Urban markets
As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Colors' Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki was the most watched programme with 7.8 million Impressions. It is followed by Zee TV's Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan with 7 million Impressions. Star Plus' Saath Nibhaana Saathiya stood at No. 3 with 6.54 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television's The Kapil Sharma Show stood at No. 4 in urban markets with 6.45 million Impressions. Lastly, Star Plus' Ye Hai Mohabbatein is No. 5 with 6.31 million Impressions.
Top Channels in Rural markets
In rural markets, Zee Anmol continued to lead with 377 million Impressions, followed by Star Utsav with 348 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood at No. 3 with 301 million Impressions while Rishtey stood at No. 4 with 258 million Impressions. Star Plus is at No. 5 in rural markets with 230 million Impressions.
Zee TV and Colors garnered 229 million Impressions and 200 million Impressions respectively. Zee TV seems to have taken lead to Colors in rural markets. Life OK is at No. 8 with 157 million Impressions followed by Sony Entertainment Television with 132 million Impressions. Sony SAB stood at No. 10 with 103 million Impressions.

As per BARC data, {HSM (Rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee Anmol's Jodha Akbar took the lead with 6.2 million Impressions. Zee Anmols's Bandini and Kasam Hai Tujhe aa Bhi Jaa stood at No. 2 and No. 3 with 5.53 million Impressions and 4.7 million Impressions respectively. Star Utsav's Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 4 with 4.38 million Impressions and Zee TV's Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan stood at No. 5 with 4.31 million Impressions.
