The final day of the IAA Silver Jubilee Summit began with the IAA honouring Sachin Tendulkar for being an advertising icon for over 25 years. The citation also read - 'For introducing commercial professionalism into sport; for being the first sports icon to be an advertising icon; for being the greatest human brand in the history of Indian advertising'.
Prasoon Joshi, Chairman, McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, engaged Sachin Tendulkar in a freewheeling conversation that ranged from Tendulkar's strenuous training sessions to the importance of single-minded determination and focus. He also talked about his initial fear of facing the camera to his work with different brands.
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev was up next and talked about how collective experiences can be synthesised and then channelised to achieve one's goals.
Rahul Welde, Vice-President - Media, Unilever Asia, Africa, Middle East, Turkey and Russia, brought up the importance of 'Crafting brands for life in a connected world' and talked about the 3Cs – Content, Culture and Connection.
In the session meeting the champion disruptor, Sam Balsara, Chairman and Managing Director of Madison World and Madison Communications, openly showed his admiration for Ritesh Agarwal's work in conceptualising Oyo Rooms – with a brand promise of predictability and trust. Agarwal talked about how wanting to solve the biggest problems got him to quit formal education after just two days in college.
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, while honouring the Past Presidents of the IAA Chapter, complimented the work IAA and its members have been doing over the last 25 years.
The day closed with Times Now Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami talking about how one needs to be a pin prick for the society to change and how disruptive media is the new media.
IAA India Chapter President Srinivasan Swamy said, “I am filled with a sense of satisfaction because of the choice of the place, the speakers, the theme and the entertainment all turned out to be perfect. I'm overwhelmed by the feedback from the delegates.”
Pradeep Guha, Summit Chairman, added here, “The combination of the intellectual and glamour quotient is really what took the IAA Summit to the all-new high. Truly a great experience for everyone involved.”
