GEC Watch: Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa opens at 5.3 TVM; IPL finale rates 19.6 TVM

Jhalak also topped weekend programming in Week 23 of TAM 2014. Star Plus continues to hold seven slots in the top 10 weekday shows

Beginning with IPL final match, Week 23 of TAM 2014 was an action packed week for Hindi general entertainment channels that saw the launch of celebrity dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' on Colors and fiction show 'Baawre' on Life OK.

While the IPL finale rated 19.6 TVM on Max and Six, 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' on Colors opened at 5.3 TVM. 'Baawre' on Life OK rated 0.6 TVM at 7 PM and 1.3 TVM in the 10 PM slot.

According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 23 of TAM 2014 (June 1 – June 7) CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to lead with seven shows in the top 10 weekday shows followed by Zee TV with two shows and SAB TV with one show.

Colors continued dominate weekend programming. 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' topped the weekend chart in its opening week delivering 5.3 TVM. 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' remained the second most watched show during the weekend.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVM, 000000's)

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus continued to be at the top with an average viewership of 9.6 TVM (last week 8.7 TVM).

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV held No.2 position with an average viewership of 7.9 TVM (last week 8 TVM).

At No. 3, Star Plus' Saathiya grew to 7.7 TVM (last week 6.9).

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus climbed one position to No. 4 this week. The show recorded an average viewership of 6.6 TVM (last week 6.1 TVM).

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai slipped one position to No. 5 despite a slight improvement in its viewership. The show garnered an average viewership of 6.4 TVM (last week 6.3 TVM).

Star Plus' epic series, Mahabharat, continued to be at No. 6 with an average viewership of 6 TVM this week (last week 5.5 TVM).

SAB's Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma climbed one position to No. 7 this week with an average viewership of 5.9 TVM (last week 5.4 TVM).

Veera on Star Plus witnessed surge in its viewership but slipped one position to No. 8. The show had an average viewership of 5.8 TVM (last week 5.5 TVM).

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai on Star Plus was at No. 9. The show dropped further to 4.7 TVM (last week 5.2).

Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se on Zee TV remained in the top-10 club with an average viewership of 4.3 TVM this week (last week 4.8 TVM).

Weekend toppers

Colors' celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa topped the weekend chart in its opening week. The show opened at 5.3 TVM.

Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors remained the second most watched show during the weekend. The show fetched an average viewership of 4.4 TVM in Week 23 (last week 5.2).

Sony's crime series, CID, fetched 3.7 TVM against last week's 3.1 TVM.

Dance India Dance L'il Masters Season 3 on Zee TV dropped to 3.2 TVM (last week 2.8 TVM).

Life OK's Shapath grew to 2.7 TVM (last week 2.8).

Sony's Entertainment Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega fetched an average viewership of 2.4 TVM (last week 2.1).

Sony's second crime show, Crime Patrol, garnered 2.4 TVM (last week 1.9).

Hatim on Life OK recorded 1.9 TVM (last week 2.1).

Fear Files on Zee TV fetched 1.6 TVM this week (last week 2.1).

Colors' Mission Sapne dropped to 1.5 TVM from 2.4 TVM in last week.

Encounter on Sony fetched an average viewership of 1.3 TVM (last week 1.1).
