GEC Watch: With 4 shows each in weekday top 10, Zee TV is on a par with Star Plus
CID on Sony tops weekend chart putting up a stiff competition to Colors' '24' that opens at 3.4 million TVT in Week 40 of TAM 2013

Week 40 of TAM 2013 saw Zee TV dominating weekday programming where not only all of its fiction shows performed better but Jodha Akbar touched new heights on the back of the high point of the show. The strong fiction line-up helped Zee TV acquire four slots putting on a par with Star Plus in the top 10 list. Colors and SAB TV had one show each in the weekday top 10 list.
Sony's CID topped the weekend chart followed by Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors. The jump in viewership of CID shows that the show is unaffected by the launch of '24' on Colors in the same time slot and it has put up a stiff competition to the new competitor.
'24' debuted with a viewership of 3.4 TVT on launch day and 2.8 TVT for the 2nd episode. Although the show received a mix response, the good news for Colors is that the Metro and 1mn+ markets have responded positively with a viewership of 2.2 million – contributing to 63 per cent of the overall viewership of the show and 47 per cent of the overall HSM markets, thus clearly indicating a skew.
The acceptability of the format is more pronounced across the upper class audiences in Metros and 1mn + markets, wherein SEC AB has contributed to viewership of 1.4 million on the launch day.
