A competitive two-day showcase of 100 of the best marketing campaigns from across 16 markets in Asia, APPIES 2013 (www.appies.asia) will build on the success of last year's event which saw an impressive turnout of the region's top marketers and stellar campaigns. APPIES 2013 will award 10 Gold Medals and 5 Silver Medals to the top marketing campaigns as judged by a distinguished panel, as well as hand out five awards to the top presenters.
APPIES 2013 will be held on August 15 & 16 at the National University of Singapore Society. It is organised by the Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS).
Rohit Jawa, Senior VP – Global Marketing Operations, Unilever, has been named as Chief Judge for APPIES 2013.
APPIES 2013 has also announced an Advisory Council comprising Alvin Neo, CMO, Parkway Health International; Charmaine Wong-Han, CMO, Pizza Hut Dine In, Asia Franchise Yum! Restaurant International; Johan Buse: VP, Consumer Marketing, SingTel; Rene De Monchy, Head of Marketing, Asia Pacific Breweries; and Rohini Miglani, Director - Brand Building Integrated Communication, P&G Asia.
Now in its fourth year, the APPIES is distinctive thanks to its unique USP, a live 4-6-10 campaign presentation format. Each presentation begins with a 4-minute showreel video summarising the campaign, followed by a live six-minute exposition of the campaign's key highlights by the brand's marketers/campaign creators. Then comes the interactive 10-minute session where each campaign will be cross-examined by the judges and audience members.
This 4-6-10 live format of the APPIES continues to be a key hit aspect of the APPIES with industry professionals. “For me, the APPIES is all about connections – not only to the campaigns that speak to you but also meeting up with peers from across the region. I loved seeing all the liquid and linked ideas that were presented over the two days and it was eye-opening to see how multiple platforms were used effectively," said Jaideep Kibe, Sparkling Category Director, The Coca-Cola Export Corporation, Philippines.
“Our theme of 'Seeing The Story behind Asia's most successful brands' really encapsulates what APPIES is about, a live interactive platform for learning and sharing real marketing cases, and learning what has worked not just in your category but across sectors. There is no other platform like this for marketers and their partners,” said Ms Goh Shu Fen, Chairperson of APPIES and Principal of R3.
Building on last year's list of campaigns by companies and brands such as P&G, Mondelez International, Coca-Cola, Google, IKEA, IBM, Unilever, Amazon, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and Asia Pacific Breweries, APPIES 2013 will continue to showcase the best ideas from various industries that span highly-diverse markets in Asia Pacific including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam. The 100 selected marketing campaigns will cover a broad range of six product/service categories that include Consumer Durables, Consumer Services, Food & Beverage, Non-Food FMCG, Business Services and Government, Cultural, Social & Environmental campaigns.
