E-tailing of designer labels clock 80% growth in March 2013: IAMAI tracker
Air tickets booked online in March 2013 were 1.4 million compared to 1.21 million in March 2012, a 16 per cent y-o-y growth

The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has released the Internet Economy Watch Report for March 2013. The report shows that in the e-tailing category, designer labels clocked 80 per cent y-o-y growth compared with the corresponding month last year. The designer label segment saw 2.38 million visitors in March 2013 against 1.32 million visitors in March 2012.
Mobile phones recorded 71 per cent y-o-y growth with 5.81 million visits in March 2013 compared with 3.4 million visits in March 2012. The footwear and branded apparels segment also registered a y-o-y growth of 39 per cent and 20 per cent respectively compared with the same month last year.
Data captured from prominent e-tailing sites show a decline in online user visits to the spa and restaurants segment with 0.45 million hits in March 2013 against 0.58 million in March 2012. Visit for books which witnessed 1.57 million hits in March 2012 increased to 1.94 million in March 2013.
The monthly digital tracker shows that the number of resume uploads has gone up to 1.25 million in March 2013 from 0.73 million in March 2012, whereas the number of profile uploads on matrimonial websites has witnessed a decrease. Profile uploads on matrimonial sites was 0.66 million in March 2013 compared with 0.69 million in the corresponding month last year.
While irctc.com registered 23 per cent y-o-y growth in the e-ticketing segment, air tickets booked online in March 2013 were 1.4 million compared to 1.21 million in March 2012, a 16 per cent y-o-y growth.
The monthly internet tracker by IAMAI is based on absolute numbers captured from various relevant sites, and encapsulates online usage for e-tailing, online travel and vertical classifieds.
