publive-imageIt was an evening that redefined cool – modern, irreverent, and high on energy – an evening when the two dimensions of entertainment, video and music, came together to create an experience that will be hard to forget. It was the first ever Micromax MTV Video Music Awards India 2013 which saw seven amazing live performances and winners across 17 diverse award categories right from Bollywood, regional to Indies and international. Held on March 21, 2013 at Tulip Star, Juhu, MTV VMAI 2013 left an undeniable mark.

The '2013 Micromax MTV Video Music Awards' rocked as the soulful Pritam took the award for the Best Bollywood Album for Cocktail. With a winner list ranging from Rahman to Agam to PSY, this is truly the most diverse awards show in the country and that is a very real reflection of the India we all live in. The show goes out to the world on 7.7.7.... 7th April, 7 PM across 7 channels of the Viacom18 network. Tune in and be a part of VMA history.”

The red carpet saw the ladies put their best fashion foot forward as they sashayed in their designer labels looking stunning while the men looked dapper in their suits and ties – right from Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Imran Khan, Kunal Roy Kapur, Vir Das to AR Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Pritam, Neeti Mohan and the Dandekar sisters.

Burning the stage with their performances were some of the biggest names from the world of music and Bollywood alike. 'In My City Girl' Priyanka Chopra scintillated on stage as she traversed across various music genres and dance forms showcasing the journey of Indian music from its evolution till now. Anushka Sharma delivered a show stopper performance on a mash-up of all the songs nominated for the Best Female Single. The show took an unexpected turn as AR Rahman showed yet another side of his amazing talent with an electro mash-up set of his biggest youth anthems over the years. Yo Yo Honey Singh launched his brand new single of 2013, Bring Me Back, with much fanfare and followed it up with his biggest hits.

But the evening clearly belonged to the winners whose work was appreciated and felicitated by one and all. Selected by popular voting and audited by the jury members – Anurag Kashyap, Prasoon Joshi, Benny Dayal, Ehsaan Noorani, Sabbas Joseph, Vijay Nair, Atul Churamani and Aditya Swamy - the winners truly represented the choice of today's generation.
