In the third quarter ended December 2012, NDTV Group has reported PAT of Rs 14.87crore against a loss of Rs 14.68 crore in the preceding quarter and a loss of Rs 6.05 crore during the same quarter last year. The profit this quarter is a result of gains from digitisation and internal cost controls. EBDITA for NDTV News operations (standalone) registered 32 per cent growth this quarter over same quarter last year.
NDTV introduced a path-breaking new application, NDTV Second Screen, during the quarter. The application allows users to interact real-time with TV content via handheld smart devices like phones and tablets. Users can participate, influence and choose what they want to see and hear on real time TV.
NDTV’s Internet business set new records and registered sharp growth. NDYV also reinforced its position as India’s leading television news broadcaster, and won the “Best Current Affairs Presenter” at the Asian Television Awards in Singapore.
NDTV Lifestyle reports healthy growth in revenues this quarter over same quarter last year. NDTV Good Times, the flagship channel of NDTV Lifestyle, received numerous prestigious accolades: the India Television Academy Award for ‘Best Quiz/Game show’, ‘Best Anchor of Quiz/Game show’, ‘Best Editing’, ‘Best Mini Series’. It won Gold and Silver at the Promax BDA Asia 2012 for ‘Best Leisure & Lifestyle Promo’, and Gold for ‘Something for Nothing’.
