What do RJ Karishma, a marketing professional from Mumbai, RJ ShubZ, an engineering student from Bareilly, and MC La Cozy, a freelance MC from Indore, have in common? They are the winners of the Radio KFC RJ Hunt, and the first three RJs ever on Radio KFC! Each of them now has their own show, and will entertain nine million listeners every month across 200 KFC restaurants in India.
Shubham, Atul and Karishma will be heard on Radio KFC talking about interesting trivia, their favourite songs, telling jokes and much more. Their videos will also entertain over 2 million fans on KFC's Facebook page. And that's not all, they also won professional RJ headphones courtesy KFC.
Mumbai resident Karishma Menon is avidly interested in digital and social media at a personal and professional level, and found it impossible to resist the lure of the RJ Hunt application on Facebook. After her day out recording at the Blue Frog studio in Mumbai, she is now super excited about her own potential as a voice artist.
Speaking about the platform, Tarun Lal, General Manager, KFC India & Area Countries, said, “Music is a huge youth passion and our popular music platform, Radio KFC is giving amateur artistes a launch pad to showcase their talent. We believe that everyone has an artist within, and the Radio KFC RJ hunt proved to be the first in a series of initiatives to give that artist a chance to shine. The response to the nationwide contest was fantastic and we are excited to announce our first RJs.”
Radio KFC is an exclusive in-house radio station, playing in KFC restaurants across India. Curated by BlueFROG, the station churns out only the freshest music all day long, tweaking the tempo and genre of the music to suit the time of day. Radio KFC was popularised on Facebook via an FB poll, 'Fanchoice', where consumers selected the songs they wanted to hear. To make it the most democratic radio station around, KFC extended the concept to give their fans a platform to showcase their talent. A special RJ Hunt application was launched on KFC's Facebook page which now boasts of over 2.1 million fans. Non-Facebookers could also call in on a toll-free landline to record their demos. Over 3,000 demos from 30+ cities were submitted, but only three winners were lucky enough to be the first RJs on Radio KFC.
