Monica Tata, General Manager, Entertainment Networks, South Asia for Turner International India, has put in her papers after a nine-year stint. According to company sources, she will serve out her notice period till the end of December 2012. She joined Turner in 2004 as Vice-President - Advertising Sales, before which she was with Star India for nearly 12 years. There is no information on her next assignment.

Based in Mumbai, Tata has been responsible for steering and overseeing all network initiatives across Turner's entertainment brand portfolio in South Asia. In 2009, Business Today had adjudged her as one of India's hottest young media executives. In 2010, the magazine identified her as among the 'next 30' most powerful women to look out for.

Tata is a managing committee member of the International Advertising Association, India Chapter, and a special invitee to all board meetings of the Indian Broadcasting Federation (IBF).

Tata's current wide-ranging mandate at Turner included development, supervision and providing strategic direction to all Turner entertainment channels. She oversees advertising sales, research and marketing communication functions; providing strategic direction, driving initiatives to support revenue growth and enhance the company's entertainment offerings in South Asia.

Prior to this, Tata was VP, Advertising Sales and Networks, South Asia for Turner where she was successful in driving sales revenue growth with advertisers on a national and international level. She played a pivotal role in leading Turner's kids' networks for two years and further consolidating the company's leadership position in the segment. She also spearheaded the development and launch of Galli Galli Sim Sim, the localised version of the revolutionary television series, Sesame Street.
