As part of Springwel's 'Sleep Exchange' initiative, where customers' unwanted mattresses are donated to homeless shelters across India, Saatchi & Saatchi India launched a country-wide photography contest. At the heart of the Springwell campaign was a desire to highlight the day-to-day struggles of the homeless, so what better place to exhibit the shortlisted photographs than on the street in New Delhi.
A shortlist of 25 photographs of lives of the homeless has been made from 362 entries by a judging panel including high profile Indian photographers Dinesh Khanna and Atul Loke. The shortlisted photos will be exhibited in New Delhi by the outdoor market on Saturday, September 15, and will be for sale at the one-day exhibition and also online.
Proceeds of any photography sales will go to homeless NGO charities in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
