Anna Hazare and India's Victory in the World Cup have been voted as The Newsmaker & News Headline of 2011 respectively, in a study conducted by Ormax Media as a part of their year-end report Front Page 2011.
The survey was conducted among news consumers on television, print and the Internet. The demographic profile of the audience was 18-44 years, SEC ABC. They were given a set of newsmakers and news headlines and asked to rate each on the basis of how much buzz it created in 2011.
Anna Hazare emerges as the top newsmaker of 2011, followed by MS Dhoni, who captained India to its first ODI World Cup win in 28 years, at the no. 2 spot. However, India's Cricket World Cup victory scored the highest in the most buzzing news headline category, ahead of Anna Hazare's Jan Lokpal movement.
