publive-imageSenior TV journalist Pankaj Pachauri is joining Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's media team as Advisor, Communications, with Additional Secretary rank. It is learnt that Pachauri may be given the title of Deputy Media Advisor to PM. The Media Advisor at present is former senior journalist Harish Khare.

The 48-year-old Pachauri will be relinquishing his post as Managing Editor of NDTV India. He has two decades of print and broadcast journalism experience across three continents. He has worked with some of the finest broadcasting institutions in the world including BBC, The Sunday Observer, India Today and The Berkley University's Department of Journalism.

He has won many national and international accolades for his work and contribution to civil society which is a benchmark for every young media aspirant. He has been nominated on the Prime Minister's National Integration Council (NIC) and is a member of Indian Institute of Mass Communication's (IIMC) Governing Council.

Pachauri is a Vice-President of Broadcast Editors' Association (BEA) and is on the Editors' Council of the News Broadcasters Association (NBA), an industry initiative to formulate guidelines for TV news channels.
