publive-imageIt is not a today's Mirch-masala film, it's a movie of 1960, which depicts the real power of woman. It is a film of director Ketan Mehta. Legendry actress Smita Patil's unforgettable role in Mirch Masala will mesmerize the audience at John F.Kennedy Centre in Washington DC on 20th March 2011. Presenting Indian women in cinema, Ketan's feminist film is selected for the screening for Maximum India Festival. Talking about this very proud moment, Mehta said “It is a very proud moment for him too as well, because MIRCH MASALA is considered as one of the first truly crossover feminist films which features the portrayal of women in Indian films since the 1960s. The film stars Naseeruddin Shah, Smita Patil, Raj Babbar, Suresh Oberoi, Benjamin Gilani, Om Puri, Deepti Naval, Ratna Pathak Shah and Supriya Pathak.Mirch-Masala is the story of Pre-Independence India's feudal village where Mistreatment is done with the powerless ladies and old people and their courage to fight against that evil.”
