Edelman to expand India presence

Expansion in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune driven by client needs, recent wins

publive-imageEdelman is further expanding to meet the needs and expectations of clients in the fast developing Indian market. To help clients optimize their campaign reach and to ensure that they touch their stakeholders across the length and breadth of the Indian subcontinent, Edelman has chalked out a geographic expansion plan that will increase from the current three-city presence in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai, to a seven-city presence with Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune being added from October 1, 2011.

Edelman India has rapidly expanded in recent months, with 120 professionals currently working across three offices. With new clients and marquee brands to service, the firm is aiming for a broader presence to enhance its existing national network of partners and affiliates. New clients include Avaya, Business Software Alliance (BSA), British Airways, Crazeal by Groupon Inc. (USA), JPSI (F1 India), Monsanto, Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN), Nikon, Neurometrix, Red Bull and Oerlikon Solar among others.

Recent client programmes supporting the Indian market entry of iconic brands such as Harley-Davidson, LinkedIn and Cadbury Kraft Foods' Oreo and Tang have underscored the need to strengthen its presence in cities like Chennai and Hyderabad, which are also major media and business hubs.

“We are hiring in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune to bolster our presence across the market. These resources are intended to service our existing client base as attention shifts beyond the main metros, and we will build on this structure per our needs and requirements in each city,” said Robert Holdheim, Managing Director, Edelman India.

“This expansion is further indication of our commitment to the Indian PR market, as well as the added value we offer clients. We believe we are setting new benchmarks and standards in the strategic and digital communications space in India. Our recent wins will help us reinforce our presence as we continue to invest in talent, infrastructure and new business,” added David Brain, President and CEO, Edelman Asia Pacific.

The firm has nearly doubled its operations in India over the past two years, both in terms of staff size and revenue base. The focus has been not only on winning new client engagements, but expanding strategic partnerships with existing clients through value added services such as digital communications (including social media) and public affairs. The company moved into new offices in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR a year ago in anticipation of further growth.
