Touted as the most prestigious awarded creative in across categories- Television, Print and Digital, the 2010 list of the Gunn Report is out. Named after its founder Donald Gunn, the latest edition of the report was announced earlier this year. The list comprises of aggregated league tables with weighted points systems for a particular campaign making it not only a base for performance review of an agency but also plays a vital role in setting remunerations.
This year, the report puts India on the 14th rank in the category of the 'Most awarded countries in the world in 2010' while USA and UK occupies the first and second slots respectively. Among the campaigns, Taproot India made its way on the 11th spot in the print ads category for its 'Colours of India campaign' to mark the celebration of Conquerors Papers ten years of production in the country. Earlier, its Spiritual Guru, Royal Rajput and Kathakali Dancer print ads for the Transasia Papers' have even bagged a Gold and silver Lion at Cannes, Golds in some of the prestigious shows like the Clio awards, Spikes and Adfest, apart from being nominated in Oneshow and D&AD and few other shows.
Unfortunately, this multi award show winning campaign was entered in the local awards as well in 2010, but didn't even picked up single finalist in any the categories
Taproot India didn't enter this in some of the other important awards shows like the London International Award, the NewYork Festival, the Australian AWARD Awards, the ANDY awards etc. which apparently are counted in the Gunn report, and if Conqueror Paper campaign was entered and won it could have had the chance to appear in top 10 or top 5 spot.
Besides Taproot India another agencies that made its way to the list are the RMG (Gurgaon) and Leo Burnett (Mumbai) at a rank of 20 and 48 respectively. The 'Smile Capture campaign' for Fujifilm F70 Camera by RMG and the 'Tide Magttraction campaign' by Leo Burnett hogged the limelight for themselves in the same category.
This if the first time in Indian history that 3 of our campaigns have got into top 50 and that too with India making it at 14th spot.
Apart from print, India has not made into any other category including Television, Digital and also its new formed category of integrated campaigns.
