publive-imageCNBC-TV18, in association with MCX Stock Exchange, India's new stock exchange and powered by CRISIL, presented the 11th edition of Asia's benchmark mutual funds awards - The CNBC-TV18-CRISIL Mutual Fund of the Year Awards 2011. The awards were held at ITC, Parel in Mumbai. K N Vaidyanathan, Executive Director, SEBI was the Guest of Honour at the awards.

The aim of CNBC-TV18 CRISIL Mutual Fund Awards 2011 is to recognize and honour those mutual fund houses that have risen strongly after being tested by the economic turmoil during the financial crisis worldwide. These mutual fund houses have believed in long term sustainable wealth creation and thus have bounced back to lead the industry and take it to the next level.

Speaking at the event, K N Vaidyanathan, Executive Director, SEBI said, “2,000Cr is the extent of benefit that investors have realized in mutual funds since August of 2009. In order to broad base the industry further, we need to have a single mantra, with a whole range of investor connect initiatives. I believe that if we can get our focus on consumer connect right, we can go a long way.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mukesh Agarwal, Director - CRISIL Research said, “What sets these awards apart is the CRISIL methodology, which is robust, analytically rigorous, independent, and transparent. The awards are based on consistent performance, as we look at 2-3 years performance history of the funds, and give weightage to portfolio attributes like liquidity, volatility and asset quality. The awards are also centrally focused towards the retail investors, as only those scheme level categories that have high levels of retail investor interest are selected for the awards.”

Speaking on the occasion, Udayan Mukherjee, Managing Editor, CNBC-TV18 said, “India's benchmark awards – The CNBC-TV18 CRISIL Mutual Funds Awards 2011 with its illustrious 11th year legacy has strongly believed in felicitating those fund houses which have performed exceptionally well. These coveted awards seek to recognize the potential of such mutual funds that have not only met the expectations of their investors across the nation at all times but also regained their trust especially during the turbulent times of the world economic crisis.”

Adding further, Joseph Massey, MD & CEO, MCX Stock Exchange (MCX-SX), said, “The mutual fund industry in India, despite all the challenges it has faced, has played a very important role in taking our equity markets to the masses. MCX Stock Exchange (MCX-SX), since its inception, has been focusing on financial literacy and financial inclusion in India. We have been partnering with CNBC-TV18 since we started operations to recognise the great work that is being done by our mutual fund industry in broad-basing our markets.
