Addressing the audience at the Times Now Summit 2024, MK Anand, the Managing Director and CEO of Times Network, underscored the indispensable role played by the Indian media despite enduring continuous scrutiny and criticism. 

Anand's speech resonated with the audience as he navigated through the challenges and responsibilities faced by the media in the context of an evolving India.

The ongoing Times Now Summit being held in Delhi revolves around the theme "India Unstoppable."

 



Anand commenced his speech by acknowledging the relentless efforts of the Indian news media, particularly during historic periods, in upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring an informed citizenry. 

He added, "Despite occasional setbacks, the Indian news media has admirably fulfilled its reporting duties throughout these challenging and pivotal decades. Despite enduring persistent criticism from largely anonymous detractors, Indian corporate media have effectively fulfilled their mission of nurturing and safeguarding essential principles, thereby contributing to the vibrancy of our democracy."

Reflecting on Times Network's journey, Anand highlighted the network's steadfast dedication to delivering reliable news amidst the rapid evolution of technology and changing business landscapes. He emphasised the network's role as “India's most influential media platform, built on a foundation of trust and credibility.”

While expressing concerns regarding the proliferation of social media-driven narratives and  the proliferation of AI, Anand highlighted, “These advancements have revolutionised the way we consume and engage with information, they have also amplified the spread of misinformation, blurring the lines between fact and fake.”

Furthermore, Anand reiterated Times Network's unwavering commitment to journalistic integrity and expressed gratitude to viewers, subscribers, and partners for their continued support. He emphasised the significance of collective efforts in upholding the integrity of journalism and fostering a more informed society.
