Delhi: Unilever's Chief People and Transformation Officer Nitin Paranjpe will be retiring from the FMCG company at the end of this month.

Paranjpe, 61, began his journey at the company as a Management Trainee in June 1987 and was later promoted to the position of Area Sales Manager after 8 months. Following several promotions, he assumed the role of COO of the company in January 2022.

In a LinkedIn post, Paranjpe wrote, "At the end of this month I will be retiring from Unilever after 37 years – almost to the day.I joined what was then called Hindustan Lever Ltd back in June 1987 on a management training scheme… and I never left.”

He expressed gratitude to his associations formed in his career so far. He also termed everything beyond his role of Head of Sales as purely a ‘bonus.’

He said, “The cliché is true: retirement really isn’t anything more than the start of a new innings.”

In February, Unilever had announced that Paranjpe would retire in mid-2024.

Hein Schumacher, Chief Executive Officer, Unilever, had said,  "I am very grateful to Nitin for everything he has done in the company. By the way, he will continue as the chair of Hindustan Unilever for the foreseeable future. And I am very grateful that he will use all his expertise and experience in that key role."
