Delhi: ChatGPT developer OpenAI hired its first employee in India, according to media reports. Their first Indian hire is a government relations head, in the background of the country’s Lok Sabha elections that may affect artificial intelligence regulations in the country.
According to recent reports, the Microsoft-backed company, OpenAI, has hired Pragya Misra to oversee its public policy affairs and partnerships in India. Misra, aged 39, is expected to join the team by the end of April.
Previously, Misra held the position of head of public affairs at Truecaller AB, a contact verification firm listed in Stockholm. Prior to that, she worked at Meta Platforms Inc., where she spearheaded WhatsApp’s anti-misinformation campaign in 2018.
